New Charter Flights to Japan from September 2007: Hiroshima, Kita-kyushu, Sendai and Kagoshima

2007 Sept 17

Hong Kong Airlines started operating charter flights to Hiroshima from 14 Sept 07. There will also be new charter services to Kita-kyushu from 22 Sept 07 (Sat); Sendai and Kagoshima from 26 Sept 07 (Wed) onwards. All these charter services will run through the whole winter season, offering our passengers not only more choices of destination, but also a great opportunity to enjoy the cool and festive atmosphere in various Japanese cities.

About Hiroshima

Hiroshima has its name because of its delta-shaped landscape. It is located at the Seto Inland Sea and has frequent connections with Matsuyama, which is just on the opposite shore. The citizens of Matsuyama would like to have shopping in Hiroshima because of its proximity and convenience.

Hiroshima is one of the largest industrial cities in Japan. It produces well-known Yaki (grilled) dishes, chips of shrimp, Sake in paper package as well as other creative food dishes and snacks. What’s more, Hiroshima is eager to develop itself into a leading modern art city.

Hiroshima’s famous travel spots include Itsukushima Shrine which was built 1400 years ago and listed as World Heritage Site by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art. It also produces a famous cake called “Steamed Bun with Leaf-shaped”. So if you would like to get more understanding about history and culture of Japan and the latest trend of art development, Hiroshima is one of the best choices!

Kita-kyushu and Kagoshima City in Kyushu

Kita-kyushu is in the northern part of Kyushu, with famous scenic spots like Kanmon Strait and Kanmon-kyo Bridge. You may like to take a simulated NASA space trip in the “Space World” theme park and learn to be an astronaut.

Kagoshima City, a castle town which dates back to the 14th century, is the administrative, economic and cultural centre of Kagoshima Prefecture. In autumn, join the Ohara-matsuri Festival and enjoy the 20,000-strong parade dancing through the main streets.

Sendai in the Tohoku region

Sendai City is the largest city in the Tohoku (northeastern) region. It is also known as “The City of Trees”, with rows of zelkova trees lining the main street (Aoba-dori Street). Enjoy the beauty of red leaves in autumn or the Christmas illumination spectacular of the trees.
